Wilson Vineyard Watervale Riesling 2018
Wilson Vineyard founder, Dr John Wilson, was one of the pioneers of the Polish Hill sub-region of the Clare Valley, producing his first wine, a Shiraz Cabernet in 1980. His son Daniel took the helm as winemaker in 2009 and Wilson Vineyard now makes three excellent Clare Valley Rieslings, Watervale as the entry-level wine. Made using fruit from a single vineyard just south of Watervale, this small batch, minimal intervention winery has made the Watervale Riesling a delightful easy sipping wine to set just the right relaxed mood.
The nose of Wilson Vineyard Watervale Riesling is packed full of grassy and herbaceous notes which develop into delicate lime flavours on the palate, with a rich mouthfeel, with lychee giving an exotic twist. Overall a dry, crisp and refreshing drop, this lovely Riesling will go well with seafood laksa.
