Torbreck The Laird Shiraz 2015

Barossa Valley

  • Product details
The Laird was a happy result of Torbreck doing some winemaking for some of the Seppelt family who had some particularly good grapes from one of their vineyards. Torbreck was so pleased with the result that they not only bought the fruit, in 2013 Torbreck purchased the Gnadenfrei vineyard which secured The Laird’s reputation as one of the world’s great single vineyard Shiraz wines. The vines used are now 50 years old, dry grown and produce exceptionally concentrated fruit. 2013 was the driest vintage in recent memory. The resulting wine is incredible.
  • Tasting notes
Intense, rich dark fruits are mesmerising in Torbreck's The Laird. Dark chocolate, spices and gamey meat provide a deep and decadent backbone. The palate is equally intoxicating, ripe blackberries and dark plums greet the drinker, before dark chocolate, mocha and smoked meats run the length of the finish. Held together with a tight tannin profile and generous oak, the 2015 Laird is an extraordinary wine, flaunting a precision and complexity that will age gracefully for the next 20 years.
