Torbreck RunRig Shiraz 2004 6L Methusaleh
RugRig Shiraz is one of Australia’s most impressive wines and in this mighty Methuselah delivers six litres, that’s eight bottles in one big party in a most impressive bottle. Of course, the bigger the bottle the more slowly the wine ages because of the different ratio of air to wine; after all these years, these 48 glasses should be ready to appreciate but will keep ageing if you can resist. Made from several old, dry grown vineyards through the Barossa, plush and complex as always, Torbreck RunRig Shiraz is ready for you to host a night to remember.
Possessing a dense, saturated, almost ink-like hue, the aromas of 2004 RunRig are of black raspberries, crème de cassis, smoke, graphite and melted tar which soar from the glass. Full-bodied with great intensity, amazing freshness and extraordinary concentration, the multi-layered palate displays the fruit purity that only the most fastidious farming can achieve. Hints of homemade marmalade, scorched earth and slow-roasted meats later emerge with time in the glass. This lovely drop is the perfect complement to Tagine of Moroccan Lamb
