Torbreck Runrig 3lt Jeraboam Shiraz 2016
RunRig often draws comparison with the beautifully fragrant and tautly structured wines from the steep slopes of the Northern Rhône Valley’s Appellation of Côte Rôtie. It is wonderfully aromatic yet exhibits a power and latent richness.
Blended with 2% Voignier to compliment the strengths and complexities of these individual parcels of fruit. A long and slow ripening period lead to a stand out vintage which was harvested mid-February. 30 months on new, second and third fill French oak barriques along with natural malolactic fermentation resulted in a particularly plush and velvety-textured wine with intense complexity. The colour is deep crimson with purple hues and on the palate, there is full-bodied firm tannins that interplay with a generous, silky mid palate with a firm and persistent finish. The cellaring potential is 15-20 years
