The Islander Bark Hut Road Shiraz Cabernet 2017
When Bordeaux native and globe-trotting Frenchman, Jacques Lurton first discovered Kangaroo Island, he fell in love with the natural environment and recognised the perfect cool-climate for winemaking. Jacques established a 12-hectare vineyard with varieties he enjoyed working with around the world in the days he would commute between his wineries in eight different countries- Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Sangiovese, Shiraz, Grenache, Viognier and Semillon. Now dividing his time between just Kangaroo Island and France, he has refined this Shiraz Cabernet Franc into a bottle of popular easy drinking wine.
Picked, processed and fermented separately, The Islander Bark Hut Road Shiraz/Cabernet Franc is vibrant red in the glass, with aromas of vanilla, plum, violet and capsicum. The palate is medium-bodied with well-balanced tannins and a perfect structure, finishing long and dry. It drinks well now, and it will continue to evolve until 2025. Enjoy with a quality slab of beef cooked medium-rare.
