Scorpo Estate Pinot Gris 2017
Passion for wine is in the Scorpo blood stretching across generations and geography – from Sicily to Sardinia and now Australia. This bloodline ensures that from an old orchard purchased in 1996 and planted with vines the next year, and the family turns out consistently great wines, none better than this Pinot Gris. The bulk of the vines for the excellent Scorpo Estate Pinot Gris were planted in 2008. The handpicked grapes are sent straight to four years and older French barrels to make this beautifully complex wine.
A highly regarded and eminently drinkable Pinot Gris from Scorpo Estate. The nose is fresh and enticing, piquant with smashed apples and fresh-cut grass. The palate is subtle and not-too-sweet, layered with intriguing notes of lychee, nougat and spiced muffin that resonate deliciously with this wine's silky texture. The finish is crisp, elegant and gratifying.

Whole bunch-pressed, cold-settled, then wild yeast-fermented in used (4 years and older) French barriques; the intention is to build structure akin to Alsace pinot gris, and it succeeds admirably; this lovely mouthfeel does not strip the wine of fruit flavour.
