ROBERT OATLEY VINEYARDS
Robert Oatley Vineyards is the reincarnation of the Oatley family winemaking dynasty.
Robert Oatley Wines celebrates the memory of Bob Oatley through a trio of labels: the maritime-influenced Signature Series, the specific vineyard focused Finisterre, and the best of the best barrels under The Pennant. Focussing on wines from Margaret River and McLaren Vale, in the stunning Margaret River with a vineyard and cellar door on Caves Road, in the heart of this great wine region.
Consistently scoring over 90 points with the critics and having collected too many medals to detail, a number of the wines have been or are trophy winners but most importantly they’ve resonated with the wine-loving public around Australia and the world. As Bob Oatley said ‘they must be a darned good drink.’
"Your one-stop Margaret River wine experience."
Located in the heart of the Wilyabrup district in northern Margaret River, Robert Oatley combines 110 hectares of outstanding vineyard, a rose garden that boasts 1,000 flowers and a stunning building that is home to their cellar door.
Pennant Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Review and Tasting Notes
Grapes from Block 12 of the 50-year-old Justin vineyard at Frankland River WA was hand-picked, the berries run down an individual berry sorting table into small vessels to macerate and ferment on skins for 4-6 weeks. Eighteen months in new and one-year-old tight-grained low toast French oak, before rigorous barrel selection to complete this final blend. Sometimes the most significant effort is required to strive for simplicity, with detailed attention in the vineyard. The most fabulous prize is when this is reflected in the bottle.
A bright, mid-weight, white peach-accented, gently oaked wine grown on selected sites across Australia’s highest performing Chardonnay region; Poised, classic blackcurrant, incredibly soft tannins with tremendous length.
Hand selected limited release with only 4 barrels produced

There's that famous old French saying in Burgundy, about the good warm vintages, that you would have to be dead not to make good wine. And in the easy years, that's what happens - everyone makes good wine and everyone's picking around the same time. But it's the difficult years – and in the Valley here, we still get three or four difficult years in every ten – they're the years where you make the statement on your skills and your expertise.
