Robert Oatley Pennant Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Grapes from Block 12 of the 50-year-old Justin vineyard at Frankland River WA was hand-picked, the berries run down an individual berry sorting table into small vessels to macerate and ferment on skins for 4-6 weeks. Eighteen months in new and one-year-old tight-grained low toast French oak, before rigorous barrel selection to complete this final blend. Sometimes the most significant effort is required to strive for simplicity, with detailed attention in the vineyard. The most fabulous prize is when this is reflected in the bottle.
Poised, classic blackcurrant, incredibly soft tannins with tremendous length.

Vintage 2013 - From the justin vineyard, matured for 12 months in new and 1 yo French oak, 6 barrels made. Purple-crimson hue; the bouquet doesn't dilly dally in nailing its colours to the mast, the racy, lithe palate in hot pursuit, the finishing line far distant.
