Roaring Meg by Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir 2018
The Mt. Difficulty Roaring Meg series consists of wines from satellite vineyards in the Cromwell Basin. This Pinot Noir is an affordable and unique Pinot Noir ready to be enjoyed now or set aside for another couple years. Aged on the lees for 10 months in French oak and no fining has allowed this Pinot to have texture and structure while retaining its fruity characteristics. Mt. Difficulty is part of the Sustainable Winegrowing initiative of New Zealand; where they have a low energy input winery facility, a wastewater treatment facility, a Green Roof, and more.
This Central Otago Pinot Noir is richer and fuller than those from Burgundy and Willamette. Dark cherry and raspberry are the main flavour characters, with soft brown spice after tones. Fine tannins and crisp acidity make this a great wine to drink now. The perfect pairing for any lamb dish.
