Penfolds Max’s Chardonnay 2018

Adelaide Hills

  • Product details
Legendary Australian winemaker Penfolds have created a great value wine as a tribute to the man who made them a legend in the first place, Max Schubert. Max was the chief winemaker at Penfolds between 1948 and 1975 and there should be a statue of him as he created Australia's greatest wine, Grange. He also created the Penfolds Bin series and introduced the refrigeration and cold stabilisation of white wines. Delightfully creamy Penfolds Max’s Chardonnay 2016 was produced using some of his innovations, so it’s a tribute inside and out and a wine Max would have been proud to bear his name.
  • Tasting notes
Wheat straw in the glass, Penfolds Max’s Chardonnay 2016 has Adelaide Hills aromatics, white stone fruits, both peach & nectarine, a suggestion of fig and spice and oak with nuances of almond. Stone fruits persist on the palate, with a pistachio nougat-like creaminess oak tannins and long, lingering acidity for the finish. Max’s Chardonnay is a perfect match for pork and chicken dishes but is very capable of standing up on its own.
