Moss Wood Chardonnay 2018
In the fifty years since the first vines were planted at Moss Wood, the winery has made a name for itself as a producer of world-class wines. The stellar 2017 Chardonnay is another well-deserved feather in their cap. This generous Chardonnay is a classic example of the fine wines coming out of Margaret River. While it's tempting to uncork a bottle now (and really, who could blame you?), the '17 Moss Wood Chardonnay will reward those patient enough to give a few years of ageing.
This lush Chardonnay is delightfully complex. Leading with heady ripe stone fruit notes of nectarine and peach, it segues into layers of orange marmalade, citrus zest, honey, and roasted almonds. Full malolactic fermentation lends decadent caramel and butter flavours to the profile which are tamed by subtle baking spice courtesy of time spent in French oak barrels. A crisp acidity brings balance to this full-bodied beauty. While we recommend cellaring this wine, there's no doubt you're in for a treat if you open it now.

Moss Wood Chardonnay 2017 - It only takes a millisecond to know you are in the presence of vinous royalty. This is a truly beautiful chardonnay, seamless perfection from the first sip. You know there has to be quality oak somewhere in the wine, and know that all the analytical numbers will be a Bo Derek 10. It is liquid gold.
Bob Campbell, The Real Review
Moss Wood Chardonnay 2017 - A weighty, flavoursome chardonnay firmly-structured and with good acidity. Peach, grapefruit, struck flint, mineral and spicy oak flavours, with a toasty and nutty lees influence. Slightly hard to read at this stage – needs time to open up.
