Krug Grande Cuvée 167èmé Édition Brut Gift Box
German-born Joseph Krug, the founder of the label, learned his craft in the 1830s at Jacquesson, the leading Champagne house of the time before founding his House of Krug and Compagnie in 1843. His dream was to develop Champagne that was outstanding whatever the year of the vintage. Nearly two centuries later, Krug’s signature Grand Cuvee is a blend of more than 120 wines from ten or more different years and is a Champagne of exceptional quality that comes dressed to impress in an elegant wrap-around gift box.
Krug Grand Cuvee has notes of toasted bread, hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar and jellied fruits. You may even taste hints of apples still on the tree, flowers in bloom, ripe and dried fruit, almonds, marzipan, gingerbread, sweet spices and even brioche and honey. It has exceptional freshness in the mouth, with rich and tangy flavours of lemon and grapefruit enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles.

A blend of more than 100 components spanning 8-10 vintages of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, with the reserve wines kept in tank for up to 20 years. It is the most consistently complex of all champagnes, complexity as obvious on the bouquet as in the flavour and texture of the palate. The aroma and flavour descriptors are nigh on endless, yet are fused with each other into an overwhelmingly hedonistic whole, its exceptional power held in a velvet glove.
