J.L Wolf Villa Wolf Pinot Gris 2018
Founded in 1756, in the Pfalz region of Germany, the one-time successful winemaker, J.L. Wolf Estate (now Villa Wolf) was going nowhere slowly, lacking guidance until Ernst Loosen took over the vineyards in 1996. Blessed with high quality vineyards, Villa Wolf now produces excellent wines; the modern-day Villa Wolf Pinot Gris is a full-bodied, dry style with fresh, unoaked fruit and a crisp texture. Pinot Gris was first identified in Pfalz, and it’s right at home in this fine Rhine wine.
Clear, pale straw in the glass, Villa Wolf Pinot Gris displays a range of fruits on the nose. On the palate, there is an overall buttery mouthfeel, with notes of candied fruit balanced out by bright acidity. With a long, pure finish; this wine is an excellent partner for salmon, chicken or pork sausages.
