Howard Park Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Margaret River is arguably Australia's premier Cabernet Sauvignon grape growing region and Cabernet Sauvignon its greatest natural asset. The Margaret River wines in Howard Park’s Regional Range are called ‘Miamup’, after the road that borders the northern edge of its Leston vineyard, the word meaning ‘place of huts’ in the local Nyoongar language. Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon is an homage to the Bordeaux style so serve it to add a little old world charm to any occasion.
Howard Park Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon is brooding deep garnet in colour with youthful and classic cabernet aromas of mint, violets, savoury dry herbs and briary hedgerow fruits, all spiced with a touch of mocha and toasted oak. The palate is a bag of bramble fruits, red currants, mulberries, plums, blackberries and blueberries, all supple and rich. This ambling fruit power is bridled by an ample swathe of fine fruit tannins, well assisted by the finest grained French oak so don’t hesitate to drink it accompanied by some sliders.
