Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz

Review and Tasting Notes

Hill of Grace is the translation from the German ‘Gnadenberg’ and also the name was given to the lovely Lutheran church that overlooks the vineyard, planted in 1860. Cyril Henschke created the first Hill of Grace Shiraz in 1958 with fruit from the vineyard. Hill of Grace is a wine of exceptional quality and not only did this very small vintage release win Wine of The Year in 2018 Wine Companion, but it also comes in an understated branded wooden gift box for extra charm.

On the nose Hill of Grace has bright blue and blackberry aromas, combined with notes of cedar and black truffle. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced with flavours of fennel, ground spice, and violet. Its robust tannins supported by French oak ensure it goes beautifully with beef fillet.
