Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 2008
Hill of Grace is the translation from the German ‘Gnadenberg’ and also the name was given to the lovely Lutheran church that overlooks the vineyard, planted in 1860. Cyril Henschke created the first Hill of Grace Shiraz in 1958 with fruit from the vineyard. Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 2008 is an excellent vintage, that would continue to age if you cellared it but is fine drinking now so if the occasion suits, open and enjoy.
Intense deep crimson in colour Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 2008 has a nose with aromas of sweet blackberry, blueberry, Satsuma plum and rhubarb, with nuances of oriental spices, black tea leaves, anise, tar and cedar. The palate is rich and concentrated with spicy plum, crushed herbs and Dutch liquorice flavours, an amazing balance of acid, fruit intensity, weight and length finish with long, fine tannins.
