Catalina Sounds Sound of White Pinot Noir 2017
Named after the majestic Catalina flying boats that once flew across the vast Marlborough Sounds, Catalina Sounds started in 2005 with a brave aim to produce the best wines in Marlborough. Their reputation for premium Sauvignon Blanc is now world-wide and they want the same for their single vineyard Sound of White Pinot Noir. Produced with minimum intervention this inaugural release captures the premium richness and density of fruit that the Sound of White vineyard provides.
Deep red Catalina Sound of White Pinot Noir has a bouquet of wild forest berries, red and dark cherry and raspberry cola notes leap from the glass with transparency and clarity. The palate is silken and elegant, with the powerful fruit notes of black cherries and purple plums framed by ripe tannins and oak structure, leading to a very long, sustained finish. This is a wine for rare cooked meat or we like the idea of mushroom-based food, like Arancini balls or Truffle Oil Pizza.
