Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2018
Catalina Sounds are named from the Flying Boats which used to fly across Marlborough Sounds, and this high-flying addition to Marlborough’s list of world-renowned winemakers started out in 2005 with the planting of the Sound of White Vineyard. This is where most of the grapes are sourced to make the Catalina Sound Sauvignon Blanc a wine of restrained fruitiness that set it apart from others in the region while retaining all the favourite Marlborough characteristics. This lovely soft Sauvignon Blanc makes any sunny day a day to remember.
The Catalina Sounds bouquet displays classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of gooseberry and wild grass mingled with guava and grapefruit. Pear and apple emerge in clean, crunchy layers on the palate, with hints of passionfruit and hay providing interest. This elegant wine is lifted by a generous, juicy acidity to a chalky dry finish, and it is brilliant with food, especially salads and seafood.
