Babich Reserve Label Pinot Gris 2017
Historically, New Zealand had very restrictive laws around wine sales so back in 1952, the Babich brothers, together with other members of the Viticultural Association invited politicians from all parties to spend a day in the sun, enjoying great food and some of West Auckland’s best wines. Whether it was the wine or the lobbying (we think the wine nailed it) the plan worked and by 1955 wine regulation reform had begun and the enjoyment of wine started its journey into mainstream New Zealand society. If even a tiny bit of that DNA has filtered into the Babich Black Label Pinot Gris, you’d be mad not to have it on your team the next time you have some gentle persuading to do!
Babich Black Label Pinot Gris has aromas of pear, stone-fruits, and lychee with ginger and honeyed notes. Gentle and lingering. Soft and sweet-fruited entry with a rich and creamy mid-palate. Mango, pear and lemon five-way to a spicy lingering finish. This Marlborough Pinot Gris is excellent with seafood - scallops are the perfect match.
